Staff Pick Notes

"Rot-what-fler? Wait, did you just say Rottweiler? I thought this was a wine." No! It’s Rotgipfler, a venerable and aromatic Austrian white variety. It may sound intimidating or unfamiliar, but the first time I ever saw this grape that’s exactly why I chose it. And I am so glad I did - it's delicious!! Here’s what’s going on: Limes, grass, the smells of early summer that you long for on a cold Winter’s night. Surprisingly pleasant weight on the palate, lively acidity, and a smidge of spice on the finish. Pair with various combos of pork, onions, peppers and cheeses. I had a pork quesadilla (not too spicy) just for versatility’s sake. Win!! Just make sure the food doesn’t overpower the wine, but it's pretty boisterous juice & I imagine this may have several daring pairings. You don’t want to miss what’s going on inside this bottle!
