Kevin Herson is doing one of the rarest things in the spirits world, making everything entirely from scratch (save for growing his own ingredients). In theory that should mean more attention to detail is given at each step of the process yielding something with more nuance and complexity than most things. We're happy to say that in practice, with his spirits, this holds up tremendously well. The Bitter Liqueur is pleasantly bitter without being bracing delivered through the use of 25 different herbs and botanicals featuring Turkish Rhubarb, myrtle leaf, bitter orange, dark muscovado sugar. This is our absolute favorite new addition to this red hot category.

This bitter liquor is the product of much love, time and pure devotion. Doc Hersons natural spirits were born in Harlem and raised in Brooklyn where they are still being produced today. Everything from the base alcohol in this liquor is made from the hands of husband and wife team Kevin Herson and Stacey Luckow. Myrtle leaf Rhubarb Black cardamom Tasting like Good & Plenty's rolled in wet winter earth. A touch of mint that has been rounded out by a gentle sweetness bought to you by Muscovado sugar. All wrapped up with a length that just wont quit. What a treasure. What a gem.
