Savatiano "Kleftes," Markou - 2018

Item # 39397 750mL

Made from the indigenous, little-known Savatiano grape, that was often used in blending instead of being bottled on it's own. The winery is located in Attica, just outside of Athens. The cool maritime climate keeps the acidity fresh and the alcohol balanced. This wine shows quince aromas and mouth-watering citrus flavors. A classic match for seafood.

Glossary

Savatiano

Pronounced "sa va tya NO", this is the single most common grape variety grown in Greece, with particularly prolific plantings in Attica. This light-skinned grape is exceptionally resistant to the frequent droughts of the region, and is the prime ingredient in the traditional pine-flavored Greek wine, Retsina.
