Jurtschitsch is a historic winery with a youthful heart. Its origins date to the sixteenth century, and it has evolved with each passing generation. Currently headed by husband and wife team Alwin Jurtschitsch and Stefanie Hasselbach, two leaders in the natural wine movement in Austria. The vineyards are certified organic with the aim to protect the biodiversity of the land. As Alwin put it, "the more life you have in the vineyard, the more stable the entire system is." This wine is an aromatic, crystalline expression of Grüner Veltliner from Loiserberg, an Erste Lage (Premier Cru) vineyard that is steeply terraced on their highest and coolest site. Citrus flowers, kiwi fruit, meyer lemon and marmalade are abundant on the palate with a salty zip to finish. Sprightly, yet bold in its intensity.
