Tavkveri is an indigenous red grape in Georgia. This qvevri aged red wine has a vivid ruby color with aromas of spice and on the palate you'll find a dry, slightly prickly wine. The multi-generational Gotsadze family wine tradition hails from the village of Tskhratskharo, in the Zestafoni district of Western Georgia.

Calling all fans of chilled red wines! This is now my go-to for this summer. Take me to Prospect Park by the boathouse with a bottle of this on a Sunday afternoon and I am happy as a peach. This is a wine that is aged in Kvevri and sees malolactic conversion, which provides a creamy mouthfeel. For some reason certain wines have such clear notes immediately. I took one sip and was convinced this is the liquid embodiment of a sesame bagel with strawberry cream cheese. Tart bright red fruits, prickly acidity, and even with the malo this wine drinks very fresh. Toss this is the fridge for 30 minutes and drink it on your stoop at rapid speed (so you can open a second bottle).
