The Gaillac region is located in the southwest of France. This is home to some formidable red wines that are addictive. This particular bottling is made from a blend of old vines of Duras and Braucol and was bottled unoaked in order to emphasize the dark fruit. Rich, pure and delicious.

About 30 miles from Toulouse you'll find the town of Gaillac, whose local namesake wine has been made for two thousand years. That's a long time ago! Founded by the Gauls, the area is home to the Duras grape, which is not widely grown outside the region and adds to how special this wine is. Fermented in cement tanks and aged on its lees, its a fantastic rich wine whose freshness keeps it relatively light on its feet. The Duras is blended with 30% Braucol, known outside of Gaillac as Fer Servadou, which adds some red currant notes and aromas to the Duras' dark berry profile. Biodynamic, unfined, and like many wines from this region, an absolute steal. Give me some foie gras, brie, and a bottle of this on a crisp fall day and call me a happy Gourmand.
