Each batch of this absolutely beautiful brandy utilizes 8 different apple varieties from local Michigan farms. The mix includes sweet, bittersweet and tart apples to provide depth and balance. The whole fruit is fermented and distilled without any additives, flavouring or sweetners and ages for up to a year in new 25 gallon American oak barrels that are toasted and charred and sourced from Kentucky. Notes of cooked apples, lavender honey, meadowseet tea, hoppy citrus and baking spices prove irresistible.

Staff Pick Notes

Having recently come back from a trip to Chicago, I was able to pop my head into the Rhine Hall distillery to tour the facility with co-founder Jenny Solberg. In the corner by their custom German still was their bike powered apple chopper that they formerly used in their personal eau de vie production (the bike wheel on the label is a nod to this). So clearly, apple brandy is one of their fortes and it shows. Using eight different varieties of apples from the Great Lakes, their Apple Brandy get aged for up to 12 months in new 25 gallon American Oak barrels. The balance of the oak on the spirit keeps the pure fruit expression in tact while tempering it with notes of butterscotch, apple crumble pie, vanilla and nutmeg, accenting the harmony of tart and bittersweet flavors coming from the brandy.
