Staff Pick Notes

Gut Oggau is a family-run, natural winery based in Burgenland, Austria. Each of their wines is named for a family member whose personality most closely resembles the character of the wine. The labels even boast portraits of the family members which are updated with each vintage to reflect slight changes in appearance that come with age. Pretty cool, right? While the bottles certainly jump off the shelf and the art helps tell a compelling story, my love for Gut Oggau is all about the wines themselves. Theodora (the youngest family member) is unfiltered and unfined, golden in color, a little cloudy, and just delicious. Medium-bodied, great acidity, white pepper, stone fruit, and green apple. Fragrant and fabulous with no added sulphur. A Grüner/Welschriesling blend that looks the part and lives up to the hype.

Blauer Zweigelt), which yields full-bodied wines, deep in color and featuring bold flavors of...
