Great buys abound in the revitalized Bourg hills, where the traditional blend of mostly Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon reigns. Full of dark fruits, structured tannins, and minerals, this is excellent with hard, aged cheeses. It could easily stand some bottle age.
If you taste this wine blind, would you guess that it falls under the 'alternative' category for Bordeaux grape farming and wine making? The answer is that you shouldn't taste a difference when the wine is a well made example of the region. Véronique Cochran carries on her family's support of biodynamics, farming her grapes with inclusivity of the whole vineyard biome in mind, not just the vines. Veronique's approach may be unorthodox in a region dominated by monocultural farming and humid weather, but her wines offer classic Bordeaux style. Dark fruit is supported by savory and smoked meat aromas, making an excellent match for sweaters, romps through pumpkin patches, or meals including richer pork dishes and fowl. And if you don't drink this now, a few years of bottle age will only improve its flavors.
