Staff Pick Notes

Domaine Vaudoisey-Creusefond is a family-run winery in Pommard with thirty odd vineyards dotted around the southern villages of Côte de Beaune. Despite their parcels being scattered, they manage all vineyards with a single philosophy of non-intervention and recently celebrated a decade of sustained biodiversity. Simply put, their wines have an over-arching high level of quality. This Auxey-Duresses village rouge is impeccably balanced. It has depth without a lot of weight. That in itself is difficult to pull off, and it's the aspiration of wine makers the world over, but they've really hit it right on target. The palate is focused with notes of preserved cherry, mulberry, anise, thyme, and flint. The tannins are finely polished. The finish is present. The effect wraps you in its red satin glow.

Fans of rich, unctuous, and well-oaked Chardonnay will enjoy Chassagne-Montrachet, whose age-worthy offerings offer all the fatness of a California wine, yet retain a very Burgundian, mineral-driven core and great acidity....
