La Miccia is the youngest of the Marsalas from De Bartoli and the only one not aged in the solera system. It is younger, lighter, sweeter and more fruit-forward than any of the entire group of De Bartoli Marsalas. Fermented in stainless steel tanks at cold temperatures to maximize the fruit character. It is fortified and sweetened with mistella, a mixture of De Bartoli Grillo must and brandy. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels which are consistently topped up—thus preventing oxidation—for five years.

Many may think of Marsala as an ingredient in some celebrated dishes, and it absolutely adds a wonderful dimension to many dishes, but it is first and foremost a wine that's meant to drink. De Bartoli's Oro Vigna La Miccia Marsala is a prime example of how delicious and food friendly these wines can be. Made from Grillo, this bottling is a younger, fresher, less sweet, and more fruit-forward iteration of the Sicilian classic. You may know the other celebrated wines from Sicily, but you would be remiss to pass this by. Pair with some of the sweet and savory dishes from this most Arab-inflected part of Italy.
