Firmly rooted in the Campania region for three generations, the winery Nifo Sarrapochiello is located in Ponte, a small town of Sannio. Here the soils are volcanic making for an ideal soil for the local white grape, Falanghina.
This wine is organically produced and sourced from a single vineyard 20 to 30 years old vines planted in calcareous soil. Aromatic, wonderful aroma of banana and candied pears can be noticed. In the palate, flavors of pineapple and baking spiced are followed by a mineral finish. Winemaker Lorenzo owns a doctorate in agricolture and viticulture and represents the third generations of his family to produce wine from this land. Falanghina grape was relatively unknown except in Italy until the end of the 1990's, beginning of the 2000's. After that, with the use of more modern techniques in winemaking, especially the use of stainless steel to preserve freshness, its reputation grew fast. Falanghina is usually consumed with fish dishes in South Italy.
A white variety cultivated in Italy's Campania region. It is believed to be an ingredient in the legendary Falernian, the wine of the ancient emperors. Today, it produces flavorful, fragrant wines, often having crisp apple and citrus flavors.
