From 70 year old vines planted in a mix of clay, flint and limestone soils. The vines are in the Touraine yet were intentionally declassified to a Vin de France. The vineyard was taken over from Clos Roche Blanche by Julien Pineau. No added sulphur.

The Sauvignon Blanc-driven wines of the Clos Roche Blanche, a naturally-farmed vineyard in the Touraine zone of the Loire, are some of the most sought-after and collectible natural wines out there. The previous operators of the estate, Catherine Roussel and Didier Barrouillet, retired in 2014, but thankfully young vigneron Julien Pineau inherited this wild slice of terroir, and has continued the low-intervention practices (no chemicals, wild weeds everywhere) of his predecessors, where he’s been producing beautiful wine for the last few years. Pineau's Roche Blanche is not your everyday Touraine Sauvignon Blanc; it plays that great balancing act of screaming acid and lush body, of salty minerality and generous fruit. While it's bottled without sulfur, this is an elegant and focused natural wine. Give it a decant and enjoy with some fish!
