Staff Pick Notes

Old-vine Garnacha blended with Syrah. Ripe blackberry on the nose, with just a hint of pepper. Velvet on the palate. But not a weighty, royal robe of dark purple velvet; more like a Burgundy crushed velvet jogging suit—light, lean, and oh-so-fashionable! Tannins bring to mind the dark, thick skins of the Syrah grape. They barely fill your mouth before bright acidity whips them away, leaving a tickle in your cheeks. This is an impressive wine at this price. An apéritif for sure—after a few sips, my mind did wander to a dark chocolate mousse studded with tart raspberries.
