The village of St-Lambert-du-Lattay, part of the Coteaux-du-Layon in Anjou, is home to Angès and René Mosse, former wine bar/retailer owners turned vignerons who studied viticulture under the likes of Christian Chaussard and Thierry Puzelat. They currently work with 17 hectares, primarily made up of Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc, working the grapes with organic and biodynamic methods. All of their white wines go through full malolactic and barrel fermentations in older oak as not to impart any flavors. Le Rouchefer is a small 1.66 hectare vineyard of all Chenin Blanc planted in 1976. Mosse creates a hazy golden wine, teeming with notes of hazelnut, quince, soft hay, mandarin orange, lemon curd, and ginger. Medium-bodied with softer, supple acid, future iterations of this single plot will be spectacular but it drinks lovingly today.
