Estate-owned Pinot Noir (the majority from Petit Pinot d’Ay) and Chardonnay grown in the Grand Cru village of Äy. Most of their Pinot Noir vines are massale plantings which yield small berries that are unique to the area. Incredible depth of fruit and mineral on the palate.

The Gatinois Grand Cru Brut has been my champers of choice for this summer’s many excursions to Fort Tilden; a beach just west of the Rockaways that’s so beautiful it’s sometimes hard to imagine you’re still in New York City. Likewise, while sipping on it and watching dolphins frolic through the binoculars, it was difficult to imagine I had paid only fifty bucks for this Champagne because it’s so darn good. A deep copper and gold hue indicates the richness of this blend. The nose opens with fresh notes of pear and lime blossom which give way to intense aromas and a characteristic Pinot Noir vinosity. It’s fresh on the palate with an exceptional balance between fruit and finesse, with a nice round structure and ripe fruit aromas which evolve into toasty notes. Pair with white truffle potato chips and the Beach Boy’s ‘Endless Summer’.
