Tasting Notes

We found this Côtes du Rhône to be so enjoyable, light-bodied, fresh and fruity, that we couldn't believe it and chose to carry it in the "Bag-in-a-Box", 3 liter size. It is made in the style of the French countryside where people pull up to a winery and fill their jugs full of wine. Now you too can lead this lifestyle.

Staff Pick Notes

During these trying times I've found my drinking habits have changed. No more "It's 5 o'clock somewhere." Days blur together, is there even such a thing as time anymore? Now that it's "acceptable" to drink at any hour, I'm loving the freedom of a good boxed wine. No need to crack open a bottle for my 12pm shower wine, just open the spigot and you're good to go. Great boxed wines, like VRAC Cotes du Rhone, aren't at risk of spoilage if you leave it on the counter for a few days (or weeks). They're also very economical, 3L = 4 bottles! That makes this awesome wine less than $9/bottle. VRAC Cotes du Rhone is light to medium bodied and full of vibrant cherry notes and a sweet baking spice that brings depth to the wine. An absolute steal, highly recommend.

Grenache

The Grenache grape (a.k.a. Grenache Noir) produces relatively pale, fruity red wines that often stop just short of sweetness. Grenache is familiar to most wine drinkers as an ingredient in the blends of the Rhône and Languedoc-Roussillon, where it can add charm to varieties that are a little rougher around the edges. The distinguished Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Gigondas appellations are both...

Rhône

Prestige in the north, value in the south: that’s the quick version of the Rhône story. Southern village appellations produce a dizzying stylistic range of delicious wines, while the prices for northern “trophy” bottles can be dizzyingly high. If you like smoky, leathery, earthy, macho red wines, however, the wines of the northern Rhône are well worth it. Prestigious northern Rhône appellations...

Syrah

We'd like to clear this up once and for all: the Shiraz grape is genetically identical to Syrah. Australian winemakers put "Shiraz" on the map (and, many would argue, vice versa), and the term is now used throughout much of the New World. Let it never be said, however, that Shiraz and Syrah are the same thing: the region in which the grape is grown determines much about the flavor of the wine it...
