Tasting Notes

A seductive Pinot Noir from the coveted Bien Nacido Vineyard in Santa Barbara. Smoky, gamey aromas match earthy red fruit flavors on the palate. A serious Pinot Noir that makes an ideal pairing for venison and game birds.

Staff Pick Notes

Like certain lifelong friends, there are wines you know you can count on. Au Bon Climat, is one of them, thanks to the vision and care of Jim Clendenen, who crafts exquisitely balanced, harmonious wines. Clendenen's Pinot Noirs from Bien Nacido never disappoint. It's a magical vineyard, just inland from the coast near Santa Barbara. Light-bodied with a plush mouthfeel, it's the kind of wine I turn to again and again.

Terroir,...

California makes more wine than any other state in the United States. Not only does the state grow a variety of noble grape varieties like Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, there are also plantings of lesser-known varieties such as Nebbiolo, Roussanne and Mourvèdre to name just a few.
