The Verdicchio grape is a must-know for any budding Italian wine enthusiast and for any person who values whites that deliver way beyond their typical price point. These are multi-faceted wines to have around the house at all times but especially during the warmer months. You'll find fresh acidity, charming citrus/tropical fruits and floral aromas as well as a bitter almond note on the finish. And if you happen to forget about a stash in your cellar then all the better as they can age wonderfully. When choosing a bottle on the shelf look for either Matelica or Jesi. Matelica produces more elegant and mineral style and Jesi produces the fleshy and riper style. It's no surprise this grape has received flattering praise from critics and somms.
