The best red wines from Irouléguy, in southwest France, are often described as tasting "the way Bordeaux used to be." In this case the wine is high-toned and full of floral cassis fruit, structured and age-worthy, with grippy tannins and rustic charm. From an excellent vintage, this wine is essentially an equal blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Tannat (with a bit of Cab Franc). Unoaked and bottled unfiltered.
