A rich and expressive red wine that should make its way onto any Bordeaux fan's table. Nicely extracted and well balanced, with dark fruits and a touch of toasty, charcoal minerals on the finish. One of those Bordeaux that will drink well in its youth. Ch. Chasse-Spleen is a simple cru Bourgeois property, but one of the best. Situated on the gentle slope that defines the vineyards of Moulis this has historically performed at the level of a classed growth. The southern exposition maximizes the heat of the day, and the gravel slope offers superior drainage. Composed of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, and the remainder Petit Verdot, this is classic Bordeaux.

Chateau Chasse-Spleen has a long history that's as convoluted as the Bordeaux region itself! The estate's origins date back to 1560 when it was considered the leading cru of Moulis. These vineyards were replanted over centuries as it passed through the hands of countless families until after the world wars of the twentieth century. The present form took shape when it was bought by the Merlaut family in the seventies. Chasse-Spleen is currently run by Celine Villars-Foubet. What does all this say about the wine you'll be drinking today? Well, it packs a lot in. This deep ruby colored wine is filled with notes of red plum, cassis, anise, and asphalt. It's herbal fruit tones are contrasted with a slate-like mineral note, which is Medoc's calling card. It is satisfying and refreshing. A stellar left bank Bordeaux year in and year out.
