Staff Pick Notes

This late harvest wine from a warm vintage is a riot of contrasting flavors. Rich, sweet, with aromas of ripe stone fruits, mixed nuts, white pepper all wrapped in a not-too-sweet candy coating. The sweetness is tamed by a lively and youthful burst of refreshing acidity that keeps this wine drinking young beyond its years. Minerality is supplied from this esteemed terrain of the Le Mont vineyard, with its rocky soils contributing to the many flavors and aromas of this gracefully ageing wine. Chenin Blanc, much like Riesling, is capable of producing exquisite wines that span the sweetness spectrum. This wine is heavenly with fiery, savory cuisine. Hunan, Henan, Sichuan, spice, smoke, pickles, ham, and a host of other intensely savory flavors all offer a foil to this rich and sweet wine. Take a bottle to your go to Chinese BYOB.

These days, one of the most exciting stories is in South Africa, where newly adopted winemaking technologies have helped a dedicated group of producers to bring the country's dry...
