Staff Pick Notes

Hanzell was founded in the 1950's and has the oldest Chardonnay vines in California. A wine making style without intervening creates a brilliant expression that sings on the palate. An ageworthy wine (up to 40 years) shows the skill of the wine making techniques and quality. It's vibrant with texture and does not have oak dominating the aromas/flavors. Overall very small production (6'000 cases) with only one quarter Pinot Noir, the rest is Chardonnay. The sloping Mayacamus range vineyard site is ideal for maintaining high standards of vines. Top marks!
