Tasting Notes

Not your typical Primitivo in any way and for us, in a special way. A pale ruby rosé color and unoaked in the cellar so this Italian wine drinks with ease - especially with a slight chill. Teres displays pretty red raspberries and almond aromas which carry through to the palate. Youthful, with balanced acidity and notes of warm southern spices. Pair with herb roasted chicken salad or rosemary coated sheep milk cheese.

Staff Pick Notes

Now operated by the fifth generation of the family, “Il Fatalone” translates to "lady killer" (literally, the fatal one), in homage to founder Filippo Petrera. Not only is the vineyard organic and sustainable, the vignerons also engage in some unusual practices, such as soundproofing the vineyards and employing “music therapy” in the cellar to assist with the micro-oxygenation process. They also boast that their use of solar power enables the winery to produce zero C02 emissions. Their “Teres” is a traditional local wine meant to be drunk in the summer with a slight chill. The free-run juice from Primitivo grapes sees only 30 hours of skin contact, yielding a unique expression more akin to a rosé than the plush, fruity style I’m more accustomed to. This has dark cherry fruit, herbal notes, and a firm structure, while remaining fresh.
