Staff Pick Notes

This is one of those amazing wines that over delivers. It takes your expectations of a $20~ white wine to a place of no return. The nose transports you to running barefoot through sandy, peach tree lined beaches. Grabbing soft ripe fruit from earthy branches, white skin tinged with crimson-crusted sun spots and salty ocean air. The Saumur Blanc, Ch. du Hureau tastes like melting into an old rocking chair perched upon a wraparound porch on a warm summer night. Crickets singing, cloaking your sun soaked shoulders up into the corner of a warm blanket. Scooping spoonfuls from a bowl of pineapple sherbet.

The castle, like many of the great Châteaux of the Loire Valley, was built with the same tuffeau limestone that underlies the vineyards of the region. Excavations left from building castles and palaces resulted in a network of hundreds of miles...

These days, one of the most exciting stories is in South Africa, where newly...
