Tasting Notes

Harmony incarnate: That is Poggio di Sotto Brunello. A musky, intense, yet vigorous example of Sangiovese, with meaty, solid tannins and firm acidity, this wine requires an earthy ragôut or roast. Lingering coolness and traditional winemaking maintain the acidity and tannins, making this a collectible wine for the cellar. Fermented in oak as well as stainless steel vats in an innovative mélange of tradition and modern winemaking, these wines age in Slovenian oak cuves for four years, then rest in bottle an additional year. No chemical treatments are employed and these wines are bottled unfiltered. The house goal is to encourage this rough Sangiovese to express naturally all its potential in an ageworthy, classic style.
