Tasting Notes

The ancient variety Malagouzia is delicate with subtle floral notes and hints of wild mint. Charming and quaint, this unique wine is made for lamb, sun-dried tomatoes, and eggplant, especially scattered with oregano. The Antonopoulos Vineyards were the creation of Constantinos Antonopoulos, a man who believed in the exceptional grape-growing and winemaking potential of the Peloponnese and particularly the mountainous and semi-mountainous region of Achaia.

Staff Pick Notes

I often find myself looking for what's next in terms of flavors and aromas in a wine, be it white or red. In this case it's always come back to re taste some wines from regions that can get sidelined as a result of there just simply being so many wines at Astor (this is a good thing!) Crisp, a touch herbaceous, palate refreshing and no oak.Grown in higher elevations and sloping hillside allow proper drainage of soil and exposition of the vines! Simply delicious and can be paired with a multitude of cuisine from poultry to seafood!

Astor's Glossary of Terms

Malagousia

Pronounced "mah lah gou ZYA", this Greek varietal is making a return from the brink of extinction. This intensely aromatic grape variety makes elegant, full-bodied white wines possessing aromas of exotic spices and fruits. If you like Viognier or Muscat, Malagousia is the grape for you.
