Staff Pick Notes

This is the perfect house wine for winter. It's full-bodied without being overly tannic and displays great black fruit character, laced with spice. I could enjoy this on its own, with pizza or with warming winter dishes. Speaking of winter warming, I also picked this wine as my go to for mulling. There's nothing better on a cold night than a nice mug of hot spiced wine. I make mine by adding one bottle of the Rive Droite, Rive Gauche to a medium sized pot with cinnamon sticks, star anise, allspice, orange peel and cloves. Place over low heat and allow to slowly warm up. Since some of the alcohol will evaporate while the wine is heating, I like to fortify it with a bit of whiskey or brandy. When I'm feeling fancy, I'll garnish with a cinnamon stick and an orange wheel, otherwise just strain into a mug and enjoy!
