Tasting Notes

With history in the Valdobbiadene region since 1500, the Ruggeri family is renowned for producing Cru-designated Prosecco, using the most traditional methods. This classically styled sparkler is fresh and fruity, light, and dry and the smaller portioned bottle is ideal to enjoy with your whole meal or share a glass with a friend. Enjoy with simple salads or light cheese and meat. With 45 hectares of hand-harvested 20-25-year-old vines that spread between Valdobbiadene and Conegliano in the Valdobbiadene DOCG, brothers Cesare and Renato Ruggeri are the current custodians of the winery and vineyard.

Staff Pick Notes

Prosecco Brut, Le Colture NV

In defense of the half bottle of Prosecco: Ever wonder why you should buy a half instead of a full bottle of a wine like Prosecco when the full isn't that much more expensive? Well, you open the half bottle on occasions where you might hesitate to open a full bottle. Picture this: You are making dinner for two but it needs another 30 min. Instead of drinking the wine meant to go with your food, you have the half bottle. You may have hesitated to open a full bottle that you may not have finished, but one glass each of bubbles is the perfect amount. Or maybe you're having a nice night in by yourself to catch up on your #selfcare, Netflix, and facemask routine. You might not open a full bottle just for yourself, but an affordable half bottle is perfect. Everyone should keep one in the fridge, you never know when you'll need it! $12.96

Astor's Glossary of Terms

Prosecco

Until recently, "Prosecco" could refer either to a wine or to a white grape. In 2009, however, the grape was renamed "Glera" in a bid to protect Prosecco's good name. Prosecco is usually a sparkling wine made by the Charmat method, though still versions do exist. Because it is so easy to drink, with or without food, Prosecco is a hugely popular choice for parties.
