Wine made from organically or biodynamically grown grapes with minimal intervention avoiding the use of chemicals, additives and technology.
Tasting Notes
The wine is aptly named: Gadabout meaning a pleasure seeker or a social butterfly. This wine is so charming with it's depth of golden fruit flavors, luscious mouthfeel and a touch of tannin. Another superb wine from the Donkey and Goat Winery. This wine sees about 2 days of skin contact.

Staff Pick Notes
Since a specific definition doesn’t exist, questions abound when it comes to the category of natural wines. I like to use the term low intervention, since winemaking isn’t a recipe, but more often a combo of luck, magic, and skills based on what each vintage dictates.
The Donkey & Goat philosophy, balanced by a healthy dose of “never say never” encompasses the best practices of multiple farming and winemaking philosophies. Not bound by dogma, but guided by a "less is more" ethos, Jared and Tracey Brandt create wines unique to the California scene.
The Gadabout is an unfiltered wine with notes of apple skins and spiced pears, quite textured on the palate with balanced acidity and alcohol. I liked it better on day two of being opened, so decanting this natural beauty certainly won't hurt.

Astor's Glossary of Terms
The Grenache grape (a.k.a. Grenache Noir) produces relatively pale, fruity red wines that often stop just short of sweetness. Grenache is familiar to most wine drinkers as an ingredient in the blends of the Rhône and Languedoc-Roussillon, where it can add charm to varieties that are a little rougher around the edges. The distinguished Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Gigondas appellations are both...

California makes more wine than any other state in the United States. Not only does the state grow a variety of noble grape varieties like Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, there are also plantings of lesser-known varieties such as Nebbiolo, Roussanne and Mourvèdre to name just a few.
From Champagne to Chablis, it's hard (not to mention unpleasant) to avoid this famous white variety. During a huge popularity surge beginning in the late 1980s, Chardonnay plantings have increased dramatically -- not only in California's wine country, with which the variety is nearly synonymous, but also in Burgundy (its original, Old World home) and just about everywhere else in the winemaking...
