Item # 30308 750mL

From one of the very best vineyards in Chinon, this is mineral-driven 100% Chenin Blanc. The wine shows beautifully perfumed aromas and wonderful depth of fruit. It finishes with a exotic richness and a chalky minerality.

Staff Pick Notes

Chinon Blanc is a most rare creature: a white wine from an overwhelmingly red appellation. This has nothing to do with the earthy, vegetal wines of most red Chinon. This is pure Chenin Blanc with aromas to match. Bernard Baudry is firmly a traditional winemaker, and the honeyed, stone fruit aromas are a great foil to the power and structure of this wine.White flowers, citrus, and an almost tropical twist merge with the classic lanolin note that I love in great Chenin Blanc. This is both lush and taut, meaning it's enjoyable right now, but laying this down for a few years would reward patient drinkers. Waiting may seem especially difficult these days, but try it!
