Right now, this is my favorite rosé of the new season. It's different enough without being weird or funky. Deneufbourg is a small domiane in the Languedoc-Roussillon run by a wife-and-husband team, Corinne & Damien. They took over in 2009 and fully converted the vineyards to organic practice in 2013. This wine showcases the Marselan varietal, a hybrid of Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache. Cab DNA for elegance and body and Grenache for high yields and heat resistance. Here you have a rarely-seen red grape being made as a rosé (blended with a little Muscat for floral aromas and freshness). On the palate, the bright, berried fruit sits alongside an earthy mineral streak making for a truly yummy rosé.
