Staff Pick Notes

Edelzwicker is a term used in Alsace and some central European countries for a blend of grapes. In the case of Montinore's "Borealis" blend, the grapes work together like a chorus. Each variety supports the part of the others, offering a harmonious outcome. Gewürztraminer offers just enough floral, lychee, and spice notes to support the buoyant flavors of Müller-Thurgau and the stone fruits of Riesling. A bit of Pinot Gris rounds out the blend. The wine works quite well with Indian dishes such as chicken biriyani or lightly curried lamb. Montinore is a certified biodynamic estate and has been owned by the Marchesi family since 2005. They are committed to minimal intervention in the vineyards and cellar while showcasing Oregon's terroir in their wines.
