A sparkling Burgundy crémant made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The vines are from the area of Auxerrois, adjacent to Chablis, and boast a mineral-driven character due to the chalky soils of the region. A sophisticated sparkler to enjoy throughout a meal.
Crémant wines (French sparkling wines made in the same method as champagne, just not in Champagne) are excellent for nights when you want a well made and elegant sparkling wine but don't want to pay top dollar for Champagne. During a huge popularity surge beginning in the late 1980s, Chardonnay plantings have increased dramatically -- not only in California's wine country, with which the variety is nearly synonymous, but also in Burgundy (its original, Old World home) and just about everywhere else in the winemaking...
