In my mind, dark, wintry nights just beg for an inky sparkling red to enjoy with friends and family. This dark sparkler goes perfectly with nearly all winter fare, from holiday cheese and charcuterie to hearty stews. A blend of three grapes, Lambrusco Grasparossa, Lambrusco Maestri and Malbo Gentile, the Sottobosco Ca de Noci is dry on the palate, with dark berry fruit flavors and a nicely robust structure that holds up well with heavier dishes. It's produced by brothers Gianni and Alberto Masini, who began making wine on their family estate near Reggio Emilia. The family has been growing walnuts on the property for over 30 years, hence the name "noci." Drink with a slight chill, and preferably in good company. Salute!
