Tasting Notes

This rosé has aromas of blood orange, cranberry, olives, and smoke. A deeply colored rosé that's the opposite of the spring rosés you drink through the warm months. This is year-round rosé that is mandatory at the dinner table.

Staff Pick Notes

As you pour yourself a glass of the Calabretta, the copper-colored, peach-y tones of the wine should clue you in that's it's not your typical, knock-it-back summer rosé. A 100% Nerello Mascalese hailing from the volcanic slopes of fiery Mt. Etna, many of the vines used for this wine are still ungrafted. All of the wines are farmed organically and undergo spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Full-bodied and powerful for a rosato, it's still completely dry, isn't tannic, and is balanced with bright acidity. The notes I get are persimmon, watermelon rind, apricot, and bitter orange. I drank this bottle over the course of several days and with time it develops more and more of a savory, briny character as well. Pair with Mediterranean fare, summer flatbreads with heirloom tomatoes and anchovies, or spicy grilled fish.
