Vibrant, mineral-driven Assyrtiko from the island of Santorini. Expressive with stone fruits, red delicious apple, jasmine, flint, and ash. The winery is the second oldest winery in the Island and dates back to 1880.

One of the coolest things about wines from Santorini, which this label has depicted, are the wreath-like baskets that the winemakers create to protect the fruit. This method, known as the Santorini koulara, is used to shield the grapes from the overbearing heat and blustery winds common on the island. Also, the koulara yields are significantly lower since the nutrients needed for the grapes run through several meters of vines to reach the grapes, leading winemakers to cut the baskets every 75 years for new baskets to be formed. With naturally high acidity despite the intense climate, this 100% Assyrtiko displays itself with gleaming quality. Its aromas of crisp apple, flint and ash intertwine with wonderful minerality, salinity and some petrol in part due to the volcanic soils on the island.

Pronounced "a SEER tee ko". This white varietal is native to Santorini and the other Aegean Islands. Used to make crisp dry wines similar in style to dry Riesling, it is often blended with other varietals - both indigenous and international - such as Sauvignon Blanc. This grape is also used to make the popular Greek dessert wine, Vinsanto.
