Tasting Notes

The wine takes its name from the nearby monastery, San Gerasimo. Made from 100% Robola and fermented with indigenous yeasts, this wine has a round body and smooth texture with fleshy white fruit flavors. This makes an ideal pairing with seared scallops and mussels in white wine sauce.

Staff Pick Notes

One of the things that makes the wines from Greece so great is the fact that they've largely shunned international varieties and instead have championed their own native. grapes. Robola is found on the island of Cephalonia and is one of those under the radar wines that deserves a wider audience. The grapes for this wine come from ungrafted, pre-phylloxera vines, resulting in surprising intensity and balance. It's fermented in stainless steel with natural yeasts and shows lovely citrus and minerally on the nose, with lemon peel and wet stone on the palate. A perfect foil for anything cooked with olive oil, and a great match with grilled fish or vegetables.

Astor's Glossary of Terms
