A pioneer in the renewal of the Condrieu appellation, Domaine Georges Vernay has always made wines notable for their finesse. The property has become a major emblem of Rhône, from the time when Georges Vernay saved the Condrieu appellation to the accolades earned by Christine Vernay’s red wines. Three generations have left the mark of the philosophy on the estate, while perpetuating its traditions in the greatest respect for both vines and winegrowers. This Condrieu comes from 35 year old Viognier vines and is marked by fragrant aromas of stone fruits. Classic yet has the appeal and pedigree to age for many years to come.

Condrieu has always been, for me, the one that got away. I was lucky enough early in my wine career to taste a mature version of this wine and it knocked me down. Lithe fruit, texture that pushed back, and a floral bouquet that should be bottled by Coco Chanel. Afterwards I was ruined. I needed power. I needed musk. Maybe one day I’ll know such satisfaction again. Maybe.
