Tasting Notes

A full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon from Southern Australia. Selected from two vineyards in within McLaren Vale, from mature vines between 25-45 years old. Concentrated red fruit and a toasty vanilla note from aging in French oak barrels. Pair with lamb, beef and pork, preferably smoked or barbecued.

Staff Pick Notes

I feel like a lot of Cabernet drinking is done on a dare. “You think you can handle these tannins? Ha! Go for it, you can’t hack it!” As if handling an unbridled amount of tannin in wine is a sign of toughness, much like hops in IPA beer. That isn’t, and shouldn’t be, what Cabernet Sauvignon is about. I like to think people first fell in love with Cab for its combination of power and grace. Titan’s aroma and palate are powerful but welcoming rather than daunting. There's roasted coffee, vanilla, black currants, dates, and stewed fruits. I’m not going to challenge you to drink this because Cabernet deserves more dignity than that.

The climate of South Australia’s McLaren Vale district is heavily influenced by the ocean; wines here...

While the Barossa is the heart of the Australian wine industry and home to many of the big players, one has only to spend an hour traveling to the South Australia's McLaren Vale to find the home of some of the smaller players on the scene. With a microclimate heavily influenced by its proximity to the ocean and varied soils rich in iron or limestone, McLaren Vale Shiraz tends to exhibit more...

Cabernet Sauvignon

The result of an illicit affair a hundred-odd years ago between Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon today enjoys more worldwide popularity than both of its parents combined. It is the principal grape of Bordeaux, and as such has rightly earned its place among the greatest and most long-lived wines of the Old World; of course, it is also the most heralded grape of California,...
