Tasting Notes

This bottle calls for summer as it's spritzy, lively with acidity and marries well with foods from the sea. Txakoli comes from the northern Basque region of Spain and is less seen as a rosé and is so much more of a rare find.

When talking about wine, fancy, flowery, or difficult to understand language is not my MO. I'd rather make wine jargon less intimidating to people who may not have the same industry-oriented vocabulary... But when I say this tastes like dried raspberries mixed with crushed river stones, it’s true! Not only that, but all the ‘difficult’ words associated with this wine are really fun to say. Hondarrabi Beltza and Hondarrabi Zurri compose the blend (Think Japan - cars and wasabi). The vineyards are in Txakoli (chock-o-lee), an area of Spain closely situated to the Atlantic Ocean between Bilbao and San Sebastien. Wines from this region are often frizzante (lightly sparkling) and this is a great example of the regional style. Who cares if you can't say the grape names? You'll be too busy drinking this to care!
