Production Methods

Practicing Organic

Wine made from grapes grown without synthetic pesticides, fertilizers and herbicides in the vineyard.

Tasting Notes

A field blend of red and white grapes from the Douro Valley. This wine is light on its feet with bright red fruit notes and lithe minerality, reminiscent of Pinot Noir. Best enjoyed lightly chilled. Tiago Sampaio is the face behind Folias De Baco combining wine tradition of the Douro, the teachings and the passion transmitted by his grandfather and scientific knowledge acquired during academic training abroad.

Staff Pick Notes

One of my favorite discoveries this year, Douro-born Tiago Sampaio's Uivo Renegado is such a treat. A field blend of 25 different Portuguese red and white grape varieties, its a wine unlike anything you've had before. Made with organic ambient yeast and carbonic maceration, this is a a fresh, very light-bodied, fruity delight. Floral on the nose, with a palate full of herbs and bright red berries of all kinds, this highly experimental concoction is like a walk through a countryside farmer's market. Close your eyes and smell the rose petals wafting in and out of the glass like a springtime breeze. A great match for chicken kebab or caprese salad, and even better with a light chill. Not to be missed.
