Auxerrois from Luxembourg!!! I can barely contain my excitement. If this sounds exotic or far flung to you in terms of grape or location, perhaps it should not. Luxembourg is turning out some fantastic wines these days and this Auxerrois from winemakers Laurent and Rita Kox is no exception. The steep slopes of the Moselle River, which forms the border between Luxembourg and Germany, are a fantastic place to grow quality vines. With an aromatic nose of cinnamon-laced apple crisp, stone fruits, and white flowers, this wine brings so much pleasure. Its bright acidity and overall palate-pleasing flavors are a great match for a variety of foods and occasions. Enjoy it with cheese, seafood, poultry, Chinese cuisine, vegetable dishes, and also all on its very own.

Auxerrois is the name of a low-acid white grape widely planted in Alsace, as well as in Germany and Luxembourg. It is also the name used for the black Malbec grape in Cahors, where it is the principal wine grape. The list goes on: Pinot Gris is known as "Auxerrois Gris" in Alsace, and at one time Chardonnay was called "Auxerrois Blanc" in the Moselle region (though this last term fell into disuse after Chardonnay's huge boom in popularity).
