Parco dei Monaci (Monks Park) is an ancient estate 5 km south of Matera – the historic city of the “Sassi,” proclaimed a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Matera is a place everyone should visit before they die.

The grapes used in Parco dei Monaci come exclusively from the estate vineyards and they get pressed just one hour after they get picked to preserve freshness. Apparently Monacello is the "impertinent spirit of an unbaptized child that troubles the sleep of the young and the old." The name of this wine is an homage to an esoteric spirit typical of the Campania and Basilicata region. This wine has bright aromas of red fruit such as sour cherry and notes of plum—it's intense and concentrated. High in alcohol, it's supported by a good acidity and smooth tannins. A delicious Primitivo coming from a region not famous for this grape!
