Tasting Notes

This Pinot Noir is made from fruit from Pommard and Meursault. Elegant structure with pretty, plush red fruit notes. The fruit is destemmed and ages for 12 months in a small portion of new barrel and the rest in older barrel. Fabien Coche is the cousin of the famous Coche Dury. The family vineyards were split up in the 1940s and Fabien has now taken over from his father Alain.

Staff Pick Notes

I don’t like to use the word pedigree all that often when it comes to wine. That said, there are some wines that just preen as soon as you pull the cork. This is definitely one of those bottles. An aroma that is unabashedly Burgundian. Heady aromas of wet forest floor, animal hide, and rich red fruit. The palate is teeming with youth but shows potential of the grander wine to come. There’s snappy acidity, densely packed fruit, and secondary flavors that hint at its lofty origins. All the fruit for this wine comes from Pommard and Meursault. So I’ll go ahead and say it, this is a wine of finer pedigree veiled by a Bourgogne label.

Terroir,...

Burgundy

The range of wine styles offered in Burgundy rivals that of any other region. In Chablis, Chardonnay is left unoaked to produce lean, crisp, steely wines with incredible acidity - a far cry from the vanilla-oak bombs that so many consumers associate with this grape. Fans of rich, unctuous, and well-oaked Chardonnay will enjoy Chassagne-Montrachet, whose age-worthy offerings offer all the fatness...
