Staff Pick Notes

Georgi Natenadze is a man on a mission. Since 2009 he's been scouring the mountain forests of Meshketi, a wine region on the border with Turkey, in search of "ancient vines growing the way nature intended - up trees." And he's found them. So far he's discovered 40 different rare varieties (not all identified yet), one from a vine more than 400 years old. He vinifies them separately using natural yeast and ages in qveri before blending. He doesn't fine or filter and adds only a minimal amount of sulphites at bottling. This wine is a blend of both white and red grapes, one of which is from the 400-year-old vine. You'll find ethereal floral and apricot aromas with fresh red plums & floral notes on the palate, a taste of the ancient world.
