Tasting Notes

This Pinot Noir has limited use of new oak to keep the wine fresh and approachable for everyday drinking. Stafford Hills is the second label from Holloran Vineyards. Excellent quality at an affordable price.

Staff Pick Notes

While I must admit to some bias going in, (my father's name was Stafford, and my middle name is Stafford), when I opened up this Pinot Noir my expectations were exceeded. Classic Willamette Valley Pinot at a tremendous value, with trademark notes of peppery dark cherries, subtle hints of vanilla and tobacco, and just a touch of oak. Sourced from the same vineyards as its parent label Holloran, this Stafford Hill is fresh Oregon Pinot Noir done right at a reasonable price point. Something of this quality could easily go for $35+, so getting it at this price is simply a steal. I served it alongside some pork chops and it was perfect, but it'd pair wonderfully with any kind of bird as well.

Terroir,...

Willamette Valley

Perhaps the most familiar wine producing region in Oregon, the Willamette Valley is actually a group of distinct AVA's (American Viticultural Areas). This varied area is home to approximately two thirds of Oregon's wineries. Bounded roughly by the cities of Portland in the north and Eugene in the south, the near-idyllic wine growing region is cradled between the Cascade Mountain Range on its east...

Oregon

The largest wine region in Oregon is the Willamette Valley, lying between the cities of Portland and Eugene and home to most of Oregon’s wineries. As it does not have one homogeneous climate, it has been broken up into several different AVAs. In the best of them, the perfect amounts of wind, rain, sun exposure, and altitude combine to give Pinot Noir the warm days and cool nights it needs in...
