Tasting Notes
The Dhroner Hofberg soils are full of quarzite and a mix of brown and grey slate. Needless to say, the extreme slopes these vineyards reside on should qualify as an extreme sport in the Olympics. The fermentation is long, the mineral strong and the fruit exotic and vibrant on the palate.

Staff Pick Notes
This Riesling has a lot going on, but it's not overwhelmed by any particular traits. It's wonderfully balanced with razor sharp precision. The aromas give off synthetic, petrol-like notes with cloudy wool and dew. The palate is rich, golden fruits enveloped in that extraordinary cloudiness. The range of flavors it offers up are just exquisite, and they're equally hard to place. Not bone dry, not off dry, it exists somewhere in between. Günther Steinmetz is a meticulous producer with 12 hectares of vines planted around the village of Brauneburg in the Mosel Valley. This wine comes from their Dhoner Hofberg vineyard, set on an impossibly steep, angled slope on the river bank. Soils here are composed of layers of grey and brown shale imparting a pronounced mineral quality. Breathtaking stuff in this bottle.

They are careful to retain the...
