Ciro Biondi's family started making wine on Mount Etna since the 19th Century although their true accolades came in the early 20th. Today, Ciro makes several white wines from Carricante however this bottling is his most pristine, unoaked version which boasts that volcanic mineral that is so distinct on the palate.
Isn't it interesting how sometimes all it takes to bring in the new season is a storm? Take the transition from summer to autumn for example. One day you're walking around without sleeves, then there's rain, and the next day you're bundled up in woolen sweaters. Well, this is the wine I would suggest for that time of year due to its flexibility. The mineral core holds all the seasons in its fists. Not too light, not too heavy, there is fruit but it isn't too ripe. Try alone or with fish, chicken, or buttery anything. I love a mineral-driven white wine, and the whites from Southern Italy never disappoint.
