Lambrusco, Cinque Campi - NV

Item # 42908 750mL

Cinque Campi, which means five fields, is a reference to the five original vineyards this project started with. Vanni Nizzoli’s family has been making wine in this location for over 200 years now. In the beginning they made the wine just for themselves, and then in 1980 they began to produce wine in glass demijohn for local people to purchase. Unfiltered and unfined, and zero sulfur is added. Very fruit on the palate but not sweet.

Staff Pick Notes

While Champagne, Cava, and Prosecco get all the praise, Lambrusco is Cinderella getting left at home while her stepsisters attend the ball. No longer, I say! Vanni Nizzoli's family has been making wine for 200 years but have only been officially bottling since 2003. Cinque Campi ("five fields") is a reference to the original plots of land that the project started with. Nizzoli works these vines organically and uses small concrete tanks for cool fermentations, having the fermented juice sit in these tanks over the winter for cold stabilization. He also implements chilled must to kick start secondary fermentation in-bottle. His Lambrusco rosso is a dry, frothy sparkler full of black cherries, juicy plums, violets, and hibiscus with structure and lush acidity. Wear your glass slippers now, Lambrusco!
